Beamtally — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 July 2026

Beamtally is a browser puzzle game. This policy explains the small amount of data the game handles when online leaderboards are enabled. It is written to describe what the game actually does — nothing more. We do not sell data, run ads of our own, use cookies, or track you across other websites.

Who we are

This game and its leaderboard are operated by [OPERATOR / DATA CONTROLLER NAME]. For any privacy question or request, contact [YOUR CONTACT EMAIL].

What the game stores on your device

Your progress, settings, and a randomly generated install identifier are stored only in your browser's localStorage. This never leaves your device except as described below. Clearing your browser storage for this site erases all of it, including the install identifier.

What is sent when you post a score (leaderboards)

Leaderboards are only active on builds that enable them. When you complete a puzzle and a score is posted, the following is sent to our backend (Supabase) and shown on the public board:

There is no login and no account. We never ask for your name, email, or any contact detail to play.

Anonymous usage analytics (self-hosted site only, off by default)

On our own website only, the game may send small anonymous events (e.g. game started, first win, level completed) to help us understand and improve the game. These events:

Analytics are disabled entirely on third-party portals (such as Poki and Y8); those platforms apply their own privacy policies to their versions of the game.

Legal basis and retention (EEA/UK)

Where the GDPR/UK GDPR applies, we process this pseudonymous data under our legitimate interest in operating the leaderboard and improving the game. The data does not directly identify you. Leaderboard entries are retained so the boards remain meaningful; anonymous analytics are retained in aggregate for product measurement.

Your choices and rights

Children

Beamtally is family-friendly and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The only identifiers involved are a random, non-personal install id and its one-way hash. If you believe a child's data needs attention, contact us and we will address it.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date above.
